This page is not neutral and should not be read as though it were. NC Registered Agent.org wrote it, we rent out the North Carolina agent seat for $99 a year, and we do better if the comparison lands. The one thing we have no room to distort is the Swyft Filings pricing, which is published by Swyft, was checked in July 2026, and appears below in the form the company states it.

The Quarterly Structure Has a Defense

Start with the fair version. Swyft Filings prices registered agent service at $149 per quarter, and $149 every three months asks less of a bank balance at any single moment than one yearly charge does. Cash flow is a real constraint for young companies, and a vendor willing to take payment in smaller pieces is solving an actual problem for some buyers. The interval is stated openly, too. Nobody is hiding how often the card gets charged.

Now Do the Multiplication

Four quarters at $149 comes to roughly $596 for a year of agent service. That figure is the one you need for any comparison, and it is not the figure printed on the order page, because order pages show you the interval you are being charged, not the year you are committing to. No first-year discount turned up in our July 2026 check to soften it either.

Set that annualized total against a couple of North Carolina benchmarks and the scale becomes hard to unsee. Creating an entire limited liability company in this state costs $125: Articles of Organization, Form L-01, filed under N.C.G.S. ยง 57D-2-20. One quarter of Swyft agent billing costs more than bringing the company into existence did. And the state's annual report, at $200 the most complained-about recurring charge North Carolina levies on small LLCs, is a third of what a year of that agent service annualizes to.

The bottom two rows are the ones to sit with together. The recurring difference is roughly $497 a year, and the toll North Carolina charges to capture that difference is five dollars.

Our invoice arrives annually and reads $99. Next year's reads $99 as well. There is no quarterly schedule to reconcile, no interval arithmetic to perform before you can compare us to anyone, and no upper tier waiting once you are enrolled. Papers served at our North Carolina office become scans in your portal before the day is over, and an email tells you so; the registered office line on the public record carries our address, not yours. The full rate breakdown lives on our pricing page.

Cheapest in the state is not our claim, and on a page about doing the multiplication honestly it would be a poor time to fudge. BetterLegal advertises $90 a year. Ours is $99, which belongs among the lowest flat annual figures published for North Carolina and stays at that level for as long as you keep the service.

Ending the Quarterly Cycle in North Carolina

The state's part is small. Form BE-06 records a change of registered agent, a change of registered office, or both, the Business Registration Division takes it, and the fee is $5. A single form serves every kind of entity North Carolina registers, so there is nothing to look up about which version applies to you.

Sequence, however, is not optional, and quarterly billing creates a specific temptation here. Owners try to time the cancellation to land exactly at a quarter boundary so no partial period is wasted, and in the process they cancel first and file second. The state has no interest in your billing calendar. Until BE-06 is processed, the record still names Swyft Filings, and everything a court or the state sends will go there. Appoint your replacement, submit the form, watch the record change, then deal with the subscription. Handled in that order, the agent line is never blank for a single day.

The best moment to start is the week you notice the third invoice, not the week after the fourth.
