Somebody profits from this page and it is us. NC Registered Agent.org charges $99 annually to act as your North Carolina registered agent, and that is the arrangement being sold here. One rule governs what follows, though, because the subject is a company that withholds a price. We will not invent figures on its behalf, so wherever Inc Authority has printed nothing, this page will leave the space blank.

The Free Twelve Months Are Genuine

Buy any of their formation packages and twelve months of agent coverage ride along at zero cost. Hunting for the conditions these offers usually carry turned up no setup charge, no term quietly shorter than advertised, and no penalty attached to leaving early. A company in its opening year receives something North Carolina law obliges it to have, without paying for it, during the exact stretch when every dollar is spoken for. Say that plainly before saying anything critical.

The Second Year Has No Number

Inc Authority does not print a renewal price. Our July 2026 review covered the pricing material, the package comparison, and the answers section. Year two appears in none of them. When a rate is kept off a website in this industry, it typically shows up at the order screen or during a phone conversation.

Filling that gap with a plausible-looking figure would wreck the only argument this page is making, so we are leaving it empty. Notice that the difficulty survives the missing number anyway. This state expects an agent on your record without interruption, from registration until the day the entity stops existing, which makes the renewal a standing cost of a company that already exists rather than an extra you might decline. You are being asked to agree to it before anybody will show it to you.

North Carolina Caps What the Unknown Can Cost You

Here is the reassuring part, and it is structural rather than promotional. Whatever quote eventually arrives, this state has priced your response at five dollars. A single filing, Form BE-06, hands the appointment to somebody else.

A second layer of that protection deserves a mention. North Carolina wrote its agent rules once, put them in Chapter 55D, and aimed them at every registered entity simultaneously, which is why a single numbered form covers limited liability companies, business corporations, nonprofits, and partnerships alike. The Model Registered Agents Act was never adopted here; this arrangement is homegrown. What it means practically is that no LLC-only edition of the paperwork exists to track down, and the procedure does not change according to how your company happens to be organized. Whatever you formed, the way out is the same page.

Somewhere that leaving was expensive, an unquoted renewal would be a genuine trap. Here it is an inconvenience you can settle in the same week the quote reaches you.

Both of Our Years, Printed in Advance

$99 now and $99 later, and nobody has to be telephoned to obtain either figure. Wrapped around that price: whatever is served on us here gets scanned the day it arrives and lands in your portal, with an email going out the moment it posts; the public record shows our address instead of yours; and a reminder reaches you before the April 15 annual report falls due. Ordinary business mail can be scanned at $15 an item if you want it, and that lone line is the whole optional menu.

Lowest price in the state? No, and a page objecting to withheld figures would be a poor place to shade one. BetterLegal advertises $90 a year. Our $99 falls in the cheaper part of the flat-rate range here, and the point being argued was never about the nine dollars between us. The point is that our second year is legible today, without asking anybody.

The $5 Route Away From Inc Authority

The entire procedure is one $5 form submitted to the Department of the Secretary of State, and our change of agent guide lays out each field and what belongs in it.

One note on sequence, since a free service is unusually easy to abandon carelessly. Something you never paid for feels like something you can simply stop using, so owners close the account and assume the state will keep up. It will not. Inc Authority stays your agent of record until the filing is processed, and the form cannot be finished without a successor written into it. Contract the replacement, file, confirm, and close the old account last. No gap opens that way.

Any week inside the free twelve months is a good week for this. Moving early keeps that unpublished renewal from ever turning into a decision you have to make in a hurry.
